McRel Update (Abbreviated Evaluation) The online Teacher Evaluation Tool is being updated to allow for the abbreviated evaluation option. An announcement has been placed on the McREL landing page to communicate this pending change. In the absence of available forms in the online tool, principals have been advised to proceed with abbreviated observations in the following manner:
Utilize the Teacher Observation Rubric
Rate only standards 1 and 4
Mark all other standards “not looked for”
Once the abbreviated form is fully functional online, principals will select the abbreviated option, and the rubric will be truncated to show only standards 1 and 4. The programmers are aware that abbreviated observations are currently being captured on full observation rubrics; so data will be transferred to the abbreviated form automatically, once the principal identifies the form as abbreviated. There will be an announcement to alert educators when forms associated with the abbreviated evaluation process are fully functional. In the meantime, please proceed as noted above.

There is a new module for the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards! This module outlines the evaluation process, and goes into depth for all of the standards, including how they are related to the Performance Ratings. To access the module, visit https://center.ncsu.edu/nc. You will use the same login information that is used to access NC FALCON.
